When I saw the solid brown gunk, I thought 'Is that the ferrofluid stuff? This thread then gave me the courage to run a thin toothpick round the goo in the gap a few times, which kinda stirred and ungooed it.I then cleaned the smears off with a dry cloth. The magnet came away leaving the metal voice coil behind. This is an old thread, but I want to say a big thankyou to everyone in it! Since it was reading 7 ohms, I took it apart.

It now works great, and I'll just not hammer it too hard while I decide whether to get some more ferrofluid. I gently cleaned the voice coil with a tissue too. This time cleaned all the gunk out of the magnet with WD40, a toothpick and lots of tissues.Then cleaned the WD40 out with aftershave and dried it out.

We have even applied a new foam gasket on the top of the diaphragm plate just like the original KEF tweeter and the voice coil is cooled with ferrofluid.Our replacement tweeter has 2 different size terminals on it. It is a perfect drop in fit with no modification needed. Brand New!!! These are new current production stock.

Now they need to come up with replacement midsection and an easy woofer fix, lastly, all the crossover parts that may need replacement doe to drying, cracking, age.This speaker still, sounds great, a great design that sounds as good as speakers costing much more, upgrades would make them last even longer, and sound better.
